PLEATS DON’T RUFFLE MY FEATHERS: SUNDAY BEST to WEDDING GUEST-CHICEST DRESSED
YEP, yet another post about pleated skirts! I know I’ve been over-doing it a bit lately, but this maxi is just so so special and I also wanted to share a few different ways to style this gorgeous ruffled-sleeve crop top with you guys this week. I’ve had a tough time finding crop tops that look chic and classy, but also stay on trend and keep me cool in warm weather – this L’Academie ruffled-sleeve silky number from Revolve is THE crop top to end my fear of the trend! It comes in 3 different colors and literally goes with everything! Check out my casual, boho-chic take with this top and a bright colorful maxi from last week here, and stay tuned for an upcoming post on how to wear it with wide-legged pants and jeans… And in this post, I’ll show you how to dress up a maxi skirt with this billowy blouse to make an outfit fit for special events (think weddings, bridal showers, etc.)! My favorite part about this look is that it costs < $125 with both skirt and top on sale! Keep reading for similar styles that take a simple pleated maxi from Sunday best to wedding guest-chicest dressed!

A wide-pleat maxi skirt can easily be dressed down, but not as easily dressed up! A finely pleated silk or chiffon maxi skirt like this gorgeous abstract-print colorblocked number from ASOS is a bit more versatile! The blush pink color makes it elegant and wearable to weddings if paired with a pretty blouse in a fine fabric like silk… Adding an extra element of feminine flare like ruffled sleeves on a sweet crop top tucked in adds that classy, chic touch that a tight fitted top or tee in a less refined fabric might lack. That’s why this gorgeous billowy blouse by L’Academie is my new summer go-to! When worn loose and billowy as it’s designed, it gives a gorgeous boho luxe vibe… tuck it into a pintuck pleated skirt and voila! Instant glam! This top also comes in a soft red and a floral-print baby blue that are also on sale at Revolve and just as lovely!
DRESS IT UP! A top-knot and dainty gold jewelry always add a bit of chic. Carry an embellished clutch and wear some gold strappy heels for extra fancy schmancy appeal perfectly suited for a summer wedding, bridal shower or rehearsal dinner!
DRESS IT DOWN! Dress it down by letting your hair down – in loose waves for a more boho chic feel! Chunky jewelry like raw amethyst rings and a statement necklace in a toned-down metallic like antique bronze will make it Sunday-brunch-worthy! My go-to shoe for a dressed down maxi look is always a strappy leather wedge à la Chloe…
