FLORALS FOR SPRING?! GROUNDBREAKING!
My favorite way to wear florals and temper the feminine feel is with a leather jacket, which works perfectly in spring and autumn… Keep reading below to see how I pull the look through transitional season weather and shop my current faves in stores now!

Without my trusty leather blazer jacket from Nordstrom, I would’ve been frozen in my lovely Ella Moss kimono-sleeve silk floral maxi dress! But the dark leather tempers the soft and sweet pastel shades, making it the perfect way to transition paler color palettes and floral prints into spring!

Feeling VERY “Devil Wears Prada” here with the pastel florals against an urban landscape 😀

As spring starts to warm up, you can shed the leather sleeves and keep cool with a light cotton rolled sleeve maxi like this AMAZING Free People “After the Storm” dress (available in several colors at REVOLVE clothing, Macy’s and Free People!)!

Spring and summer are seasons where florals really come to the forefront! Those gorgeous flowers printed on your favorite dresses can be flaunted without losing their luster underneath early spring, fall and winter layers! I love to wear my neutral-toned florals with an oversized tote, strappy wedges and an oversized fedora!

This Free People maxi with the supersized skirt also functions flawlessly as a picnic blanket 🙂

On weekends, we wear BRIGHT and BOLD floral prints with painterly effects! Milly makes some of my favorite printed dresses, and this one is no exception!

You can pair these scuba fit-and-flare floral dresses with tights until it warms up enough to wear them sans layers! I always like off-setting anything too feminine like this girly dress with a little rock’n’roll chic like this studded leather belt and suede strappy wedges.

….and FINALLY, we’re onto my current fave for the season, which makes me feel like a princess! This absolute treat by Tularosa can be played down for daytime with a… YUP, you guessed it – Fedoral! I chose black this time to give a little more contrast because the print is smaller on this dress.

I picked up this blushing beauty at Principessa Boutique in Venice Beach, Los Angeles last summer, and it sold out EVERYWHERE within days! It’s BACK IN STOCK in lots of colors and prints! Yippee!!! Shop the look below!

How gorgeous are those delicate flutter sleeves?!

My Instagram followers know by now that I’m kind of, umm… obsessed… would be the right word… with maxi dresses and floral prints. Now add them together and – OH MON DIEU! It’s like I’ve died and gone to fashion heaven! 🙂 As soon as the weather warms up, I start scouring my closet for pretty pastels, bright hues and prints that pop! And as awfully cheesy as it sounds, Miranda Priestly’s deadpan voice resonates in my head EVERY time I don a feminine floral frock when the weather takes a warm turn: “Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.”
…But then I think… WAIT! They are groundbreaking! Every spring, flower stems and bulbs break through the frozen earth to bloom and brighten up our lives after a winter spent staring at shades of grey. Why isn’t it groundbreaking for our floral print threads to do the same as we unearth them from deep within our closets and suitcases tucked away in secret storage spaces!
Here’s the other thing – in most cities, spring and fall are a bit schizophrenic. It can be perfectly temperate in the sun, but the second you’re in the shade or a blast of wind hits you, it feels like winter’s scary cousin has reared its ugly head! This means you need to ease into warm-weather wear with some fun layers and accessories! Shop my fave frocks of the season above and please share your favorite way to get your floral fix this season in the comments below!
