FALLING INTO AUTUMN STYLE: SEQUINS and NEUTRAL TONES
The Zoe Report wants to know – how do you plan to break into fall? It’s never easy transitioning between seasons, but the hardest one might be shedding summer skin to add fall layers! I love wearing bright colors when it’s warm out, but find it hard to step outside my Crayola box of neutral tones when the weather gets cold. One way I’ve found to keep my cool whilst adding warmth is through TEXTURE! Even in a head-to-toe neutral palette, you don’t have to substitute style for warmth if you add any of the following:
- cool it-girl accessories like a chunky wool scarf, faux fur and fedoras
- fabrics that evoke nostalgia like tweed, herringbone and houndstooth
- leather and lace – this combo is just so chic and sexy too!
- daytime sequins (get into it!)
OUTFIT DETAILS: felt hat by brixton from revolve clothing | sequin top by 3.1 phillip lim | sapphire & crystal statement necklace from t.j. maxx | baxter moto jeans from topshop | sunnies by tom ford | suede camel colored ankle boots by dolce vita
If you really need a pop of color when it’s cold out, wear a brightly colored lipstick like my red cream lip stain from Sephora (the perfect red for EVERY skin tone, and only 14 bucks!). Here, I’m basically mixing all of the textures with a navy tweed boyfriend jacket, faux fur scarf, sueded leather pants and gold sequin shoes with a gem of a ring I found on Gilt for a wee $35!
